SANTHOSH D. ANDRADE Contemporary Artist
◾Education: (2020-2022) Currently Pursuing MVA in Painting at Vijaya College, Gadag;
Completed –BFA in Painting in 2011 and a Diploma in Applied Art in 2006.
◾Awards: He has won several awards at the National level, South India level and State level. Some of his awards are as follows;
◾ Second Award Winner in the in the 3rd All India Art Competition and Exhibition organised by the State Gallery of Art, Government of Telangana, Hydrebad;
◾‘ORA’ First Award Winner in the Professional Category, organized by Mojarto, a venture of NDTV, India;
◾Mysuru Dussehra Kala Mela Award - Govt of Karnataka;
◾‘The Best Indian Traditional Composition Award’ from the Bombay Art Society @ Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai;
◾2007 Karnataka Lalithakala Academy Award; 2008 & 2006 prestigious Southern Region camel Art Award in the professional and student category, 2008,
◾All India Silver Award ‘Kala Sangati’ Scribble Art Association, Hyderabad.
◾He has been nominated 4 times for Birla Academy Annual Art Exhibition Award organized by Birla Academy of Art & Culture in Kolkata.
◾In 2017 he was nominated for the 59th National Award Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi.
◾He has also been nominated 2 times for the All India Lokmanya Tilak Award.

Artist’s Statement – Santhosh Andrade
My art is an expression of the everyday ordinary. Themes revolve around daily scenarios experienced in and around my life. Nature, Climate and Transition spaces between the built vernacular and the open play such a vivid role in one’s life and is in essence captured in my creations my means of use of extensive color, tropical foliage, rustic architecture and issues with rampant, fast paced, unsustainable urbanisation. I see art in the everyday ordinary, the new juxtaposition with the old, aesthetics, layers and hidden clues all amalgamated into one. Natural light, imperative to daily life in India, in its various forms – day break, a sultry summer afternoon, overcast skies, dusk – evoke a varied plethora of emotions in me and is hence captured in the art I create.
I use multiple transparent and translucent layering to arrive at the colours that make my art. Textures are created using unique everyday ordinary household equipment. This imagery of Indian aesthetic has evolved over time during my artistic journey and has been inspired by folk art.

ART GALLERY : ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜಗಲಿಯಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಹೊಸ ಪ್ರಯೋಗ. ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಅನೇಕ ಮಜಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೂ ಒಂದು. ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಲಾವಿದ ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿಸುವ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮವಾಗಿ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಗಳು ಸಹಕರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಅನೇಕ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ಮಾರಾಟವಾಗಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
ಇಂತಹ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡುವಂತ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರಿಗೆ ಇಂತಹ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇರೋದೇ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ..... ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಡಿನ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಪೋಷಕರಿಗೂ ಕಲಾವಿದರಿಗೂ ಸೇತುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿ ನೀಡುವ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜಗಲಿಯಿಂದ.....
