        Sunil Mishra was born and brought up in Shirva , Udupi. As young boy he was exposed to the rich culture and folk art and rituals of the coastal region. The coastal culture and literature influenced his creative pursuit from very early stage of his life. Being a tutor and practicing artist he has gone through various challenges in visual art. His involvement with various social groups , nurturing artistic nuances of the students have fruitfully given and earned him a good nameas inspiring and creative teacher. Sunil Mishra has been exploring various mediums and subjects to execute his art works. He is known from his strong line drawings , where he would create a new world of figures and forms. Present exhibition evolves a set of his recent works which exhibit a great sense of vitality and symbolism. The body of art works are the results of his newly discovered and adopted medium, where he employed the wood, bronze as well as canvas as medium of expression. 

       Sunil Mishra's art works are the culmination of the ideas and experiences , expressed in meaningful installation - like sculptural forms . They are constructed rather than sculpted . Each form is well defined as value to the art work . Use of wooden plank , brass sheet . embossing , though trace back to the tradition of carving , Mishra brings back the tradition with fine blend of contemporary images that are highly self - expressive . Burning wooden surface with blow torch to give serene feel , painting with acrylic to blend the imaginations to enable to enlighten the greater responsibility : human values . The art works consisting of very serious issues of the day to day life . They are the representation of the celebration of the artist's personal experiences recorded in visual expressions . The forms expressed here are the deeply filled images , vitally poised in varied modes of expressions and stances , varied bodily postures and frozen gestures . Mishra's art works are adherent to the basic elements of the visual art : the tones , textures , shadows that art work creates- and figures which bring in the new life to the subjects that he delineated . The artist has very meaningfully used contemporary representation of these figures with equally embedded symbolism. Each painting has narrative content. They have energy to un - scroll an un - told myth of life , re - viewed from the experience of the socio - political entities. Sunil Mishra loves to work with mixed Medias in his creative practice. The wooden planks with varied shapes are filled with relief carvings to express his creative feelings. The figures transform as abstract and semi abstract figures creating a vibrant and meaningful composition. The composition of his art works have rhetoric nuances congregated with contemporary issues . While creating his art works using varied colours and blow torch to give the wood texture and colour that gives a serene look to his art work . There is life in forms that he has created . Each figure has vital energy to record the metaphoric visual script . Mishra's art works : in wooden planks , where he has carved reliefs of human figures spread all over the surface . The ambiguous identity of these figures make them part of the hidden and flashing world , suddenly appearing as characters . In the art work ' Spoon and Figures he uses bunch of figures grouped in pyramidal shape symbolically representing the structure of the politics . The visual metaphoric association of the figures stresses upon the social causes . Similarly , repetitive forms in varied postures and gestures occupy the surface as if they climbing the mountain . Their representational values knitted closely to enhance the symbolic meaning . The un - sized shapes of the wooden planks meaningfully and quite regulated and employed spoon as form . In his planks works , use of circular form , painted blues and whites mystifies the spatial surface as ray of hope . Transformation of artist imagination , figures , forms and composition have metamorphosed as "Visual Metaphors". Artist Mishra has created these chaste forms to record his impressions relate to his social consciences . As an artist , he has all fascination and passion for experimenting with material he explored . In the pursuit of his expressions , Mishra brings in a new life in to the forms.

      ಇಂತಹ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಡುವಂತ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರಿಗೆ ಇಂತಹ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇರೋದೇ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ..... ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಡಿನ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಲಾವಿದರ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಪೋಷಕರಿಗೂ ಕಲಾವಿದರಿಗೂ ಸೇತುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪೂರ್ತಿ ನೀಡುವ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜಗಲಿಯಿಂದ.....
